چکیده

The neoclassical theory of toroidal plasma rotation in the presence of an asymmetric neutral gas source in the edge of tokamak is examined. The poloidal dependence of momentum damping and ion energy loss due to charge-exchange processes are included. It is shown that the toroidal flow velocity increases significantly if the gas is fueled from the inboard side of the tokamak; the radial electric field and its shear are modified accordingly. It is also shown that for a fixed gas-fueling rate, the asymmetric fueling has a smaller role in TEXTOR @G. Mank et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 2312 ~2000!# than in COMPASS-D @M. Valovi et al., Plasma Phys. Controlled Fusion 44, A175 ~2002!#. The role of asymmetric gas injection is therefore effectively stronger in COMPASS-D. © 2004 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1633558#

Effect of poloidal density variation of neutral atoms on the tokamak edge.

Neutral atoms in the tokamak edge affect the electric field and plasma flow through charge exchange. Here, it is shown that these effects depend sensitively on the poloidal location of the atoms. It is found that the radial electric field and toroidal flow velocity in a collisional edge plasma are largest if the atoms are concentrated on the inboard side. This feature may explain MAST and COMPA...

Numerical Studies and Simulation of the Lower Hybrid Waves Current Drive by using Fokker – Planck Equation in NSST and HT-7 Tokamaks

Recent experiments on the spherical tokamak have discovered the conditions to create a powerful plasma and ensure easy shaping and amplification of stability, high bootstrap current and confinement energy. The spherical tours (ST) fusion energy development path is complementary to the tokamak burning plasma experiment such as NSTX and higher toroidal beta regimes and improves the design of a po...

Fluid model equations for the tokamak plasma edge

Increasing evidence that the edge plasma plays a crucial role in global tokamak continement motivates this study of two-dimensional (2-D) (0,~) computational models of fluid transport in the edge plasma region. Fluid plasma equations, boundary conditions, and a coupled neutral-plasma model are developed assuming toroidal symmetry. A plasma potential equation~is presented for consistent drift fl...

Impurity Behavior in ITER and Helical Burning Plasmas with Internal Transport Barriers

The impurity transport simulation code TOTAL (TOroidal Transport Analysis Linkage) consisting of 1-D(dimensional) transport and 2or 3-D equilibrium is developed for analyzing tokamak and helical burning plasmas controlled by feedback scheme with gas puffing, pellet fueling injection and heating power modulations. In this code multi-species of impurity ions can be treated including neoclassical ...

Parametric Study of Equilibrium and Stability Analysis of HT-6M Tokamak in the Presence of Flow

It is experimentally observed that tokamak plasmas exhibits macroscopic flow in the toroidal and poloidal directions. Both the flow can considerably change the equilibrium parameters of tokamak. Equilibrium of HT-6M is revisited as a case study and its equilibrium parameters are simulated in the presence of toroidal and poloidal flows with the FLOW Code developed by L. Guazzotto at that Univers...
